Conditions: Damp, but not cold.
Eric and Sean represented VWS at the All Hallows CX Race, the penultimate race in the Sportif Cross Cup. After a 3 year hiatus, this great course was back with a vengeance. While it had the standard twisty sections and barriers of many ‘cross races, this course also had two trips through a sand horse ring, rooty singletrack, a rideable (especially if you have an awesome Specialized Crux Disc bike) double-log barrier, and dash through an old barn. It was a blast.
In the Category 3/4 35+ race in the morning, Eric parlayed his front row starting spot into an early lead. He was briefly overtaken on the 3rd of 4 laps, but then attacked through one of the sand pits to create a gap the he would not relinquish. With the win, Eric clinched the series points win in this category with one race still remaining.
In the afternoon race, Sean put his mountain bike experience to full use on the roots and the log hops to come home a solid 7th place, his first top 10 of the season. It was a great way to spend the afternoon with the family!
Just a few more races to go with the MABRA Championship on 12/1 and a big team participation at Capital Cross in Reston on 12/8.
