Mike headed to Winchester Va. for the 4/5 race at AppleCross, the first race in the BikeReg.com Super 8 series. With two full practice laps in his legs, it was time to line up for an 8:15 AM start. The most significant feature of the course was a run up they call the “Belgian Wall” . There was also plenty of grass, dirt and wooded sections to make it a very well rounded course. Mike started in the 3rd row among 65 other starters, and finished in a respectable 9th place. Next Sunday is the Hyattsville CX in Maryland. Thanks to Winchester Wheelman for putting on a fun race on a great course.

Mike Kirby raced the first cross race of his illustrious cycling career on Saturday Sept 21st at the 9th annual Charm City Cross race in Baltimore. With a start placement right in the middle of a 100 men 4/5 field, Mike managed to stay upright, suffer, and maneuver his way through a couple of dozen other riders to eventually finish 35th. Much experience was gained, and Mike plans to build on the experience week after week as he begins the Super 8 series Sept 29th at Winchester Apple Cross. Thanks goes out to Charm City Cycling and Charm City Cyclocross for a great event in Baltimore.
