It’s always good to get the first real race out of the way. It’s even better when the entire team goes top 15!
Thom, Jay, Mike and Landall lined up for the 4/5 in less than ideal conditions for the season opener. Early season races are always a bit jittery but add in the wet pavement and we all knew you’d have to stay on high alert.
The race never really got hard. Whether the field was scared of the hill or those with ambitions just wanted it to end in a sprint, who knows, but either way, we came to the bottom of the hill on the last lap in a pretty big group. The goal going in was to drop Mike off at about a quarter of the way up the hill for his sprint. He wasn’t able to make it that far forward due to the infighting for position. Instead, Jay found Thom who found Landall and an incredibly well intentioned if not poorly executed lead out for Jay took place instead.
War stories abound, but all in all, a pretty good day for the team. We’re all looking forward to the rest of the season and happy to escape this one with all of our skin.
Some photos were found online and they are below. It’s not my (Landall) intention to only post photos of myself. But, that mostly seems to be what we have here. Oh well.
